Merry Christmas {Home Tour} from Stella Minded!

I hope all of you have had a wonderful holiday season thus far and will have the opportunity to spend your Christmas with your families tomorrow! Being a new shop owner, truthfully this season got away from me, but I feel extremely blessed for my sweet, sweet customers who have made my first season such a magical one. Next year there are definitely a few things I’ll do differently with my processes, and am excited to share some of those new ideas with you!

My husband and I will be spending our first Christmas in South Florida with friends, as our family is still in the Northeast. But we’ve made a vow to create our own holiday traditions this year, instead of just trying to “get through” this season without our family nearby as it seems we may have done this past Thanksgiving.

While this certainly is the first year I’ve been in shorts and flip flops during the month of December, we still wanted to make our home reflect our love for our most favorite holiday and hope you enjoy a little peek at our decor.

Our Den.

You’ll notice that clearly we love our vintage trunks. In this open space we just added a little Christmas tree as the focal point for this cozy room.

We trimmed a few pieces of the tree and stuck em’ in the tray of an existing centerpiece on the coffee table, and strung a few wreaths from the windows with some torn muslin.

This furniture previously occupied our Study in our home in upstate NY, and we’re not at all formal people so it’s known as the room that holds the furniture that was in our study. Or more like the room with the couch that our dog likes to sleep on during the day.

The banner draped across the shelf reads, “Seas & Greetings”, our Christmas card photo fail turned decor. We had these fabulous plans of draping it across us at the beach when we had our Christmas card pictures taken and it broke as soon as we got there!

I love the warm tones together, and this year we draped a cream and gold trimmed ribbon alongside of the burlap to give it a slightly different look and feel from last year.

Our sweet friend gives us the most fantabulous ornaments, and sent us this ‘W’ this year.

H&M Christmas Tree Mat under Tree

We purchased our Christmas tree mat from H&M home {here}, but unfortunately it old out shortly after we purchased it. Do you ever shop their home decor? It’s really inexpensive and so far I’ve been pleased with our purchases.

I really, REALLY miss our fireplace and mantel in our previous home. Curling up by the fire on a lazy Sunday under a blanket with a cup of tea was my favorite, and hanging our stockings on the mantel looked magical. But this year we improvised and tied our stockings with torn muslin to the staircase. Change is all about adapting to your environment, and I’m still working on that.

This dried lemon leaf wreath was purchased {here} from A&M Growers on Etsy. I love supporting small businesses and other talented Etsians. When it arrived in the box it was still alive but it dried out perfectly. We simply added a piece of burlap ribbon and affixed it to this chalkboard.

Do you see our “little” furry baby over in the corner? He’s not trying to steal the show; he’s actually waiting patiently in front of the closet that houses his treats. He’s no dummy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our little peek of our decorated home for the holiday season and have a Merry Christmas!
